West Gippsland Zone are pleased to once again be running the WGZ Dressage and Showjumping Series for 2024

Guidelines for Clubs wishing to be part of the series:

  1. Offer up to at least up to Grade 1 and A Grade SJ- Happy for clubs to set criteria as to what prizes they offer if only limited numbers in higher grades.
  2. Must advertise that they are part of the Series, and advertise whoever the sponsor is.
  3. Offer the Series sponsor the opportunity to supply the rugs/prizes for their event
  4. Advise Zone if they decide to combine an Open and PC class so that riders still gain points if they have entered the PC section.
  5. Clubs Must supply Zone with results within one week of event
  6. Dressage events must be a Jackpot (two tests) SJ must be two classes of the following types of class: EA National Jumping Rules: Art 238, Art 237 or Art 274. PCV Allow a horse to jump a max of 5 rounds a day and a jump off counts as a round.
  7. Accredited course builders must be used for Show jumping courses
  8. Nominate as a Series Event by end of Feb at latest- Clubs are expected to make a firm commitment to running an event, not just save a date then cancel.

Guidelines for Riders:

  1. Best THREE Scores of a COMBINATION will go towards series placings- in the case of a tie, will be best FOUR Scores, and so on until no tie, or tie remains.
  2.  Combination must have competed in THREE events to be eligible for a place in series.
  3. Leaderboard points will be 1st= 21 points, 2nd = 19 points, 3rd = 18 points, 4th = 17 points, 5th = 16 points, 6th = 15 points
  4. If Combination moves up a grade during the year, their single best score from the lower grade will carry to the new grade.
  5. Riders will not gain any Series points if they have been eliminated in any class at the event.
  6. Riders will not gain Series points if they have entered an Open section. Riders will gain Series points if they have entered a PC section that the club then combines into an Open section.
  7. Series placing does not guarantee a place on a State Team, however competing at Zone events is looked upon favourably for selection.
  8. “Series Achiever Award” will be awarded to combinations who compete at all events listed as part of the WGZ Series in each discipline for the series that year.
